Our 40K cold cutting services use ultra-high-pressure hydroblasting at approximately 40K psi to cut steel, concrete, and other hard materials while avoiding hot work. Hotwork cutting can be very unsafe in refineries and petrochemical plants. Cold cutting offers a safer alternative for facilities.
40K cold cutting is ideal for vessel access, pipe cutting, and tank modifications. Abrasive 40K systems may be used for refinery tank cutting and structural steel cutting.
What is the Benefit of Cold Cutting?
With cold cutting, you reduce the risk of ignition and improve safety in flammable or explosive atmospheres or in environments with enhanced risk. No hot work permits are required, as hot work is avoided altogether.
40K waterjets can be used in low-LEL or vapor-rich areas where traditional cutting is dangerous. Specifically, 40K cold cutting can be used to cut openings into tanks or vessels before they are fully degassed. In this scenario, hot work would pose significant danger to staff and the environment.
Precision & Automation
Many systems are automated or remotely operated, making them more precise and, most importantly, safer.
